Winter has arrived

Hello, all
Well, winter has arrived her in Oman. The mornings are a chilly 22 deg c and it only gets to 32 at lunchtime. At long last I can use the bike every day - during the summer it is just too hot as it sometimes hits 50 deg c.
My last input said that I was going to the Italian MotoGP - but other events took over. Youngest daughter was moving from the community that she has lived in for the last 8 years to the adult community. Hannah has Down Syndrome, and lives within the Rudolf Steiner Camphill organisation. They are WONDERFUL people - Hannah was in a house of about 10 other young people (with all sorts of challenges and opportunities - I nearly said problems!) and with co-workers from all over the world and a house mother and father. She was so happy there that when it caqme for her to move to the Adult community - called Newton Dee - in August we thought that we should be in Aberdeen to support her and help her to settle in. So a week in Venice and the MotoGP were swopped for a week in Aberdeen. She is settling in Ok, she is travelling to Oman for Christmas and it will be good to see her again. PS Youngest daughter is 30 yrs old. How the hell did that happen!!

I did manage to get to teh Beezumph Rally at Cadwell. Brilliant. Listened to Craig Vetter give a talk about the Hurricane and the workings of the motorcycle industry in teh early seventies. Then teh Americans were out on track - Dave Aldana in his trademark skeleton outfit.

On teh bikes front I have just - against my better judgement - bought a 1979 Triumph Bonneville. For 400 quid. Last year we had a cyclone in Oman with many lives lost and musch destruction. Including this Triumph. I think the bike was under water and teh owner stripped it into boxes and left it at a garage to fix. However he sold it on to an Indian mechanic who got the garage to put it together. Oh Dear. Weetabix gaskets, metric bolts used in UNC holes etc etc. Anyway I heard about it and bought it. Its now in bits, about to be powder coated, painted or chromed as required. I have oreder a set of new stainless steel nuts / bolts taht cost as much as the bike itself.
It will keep me busy for a while.

Have a happy Christmas, and safe riding.

Peter
