Hi In 1978 - 1979 ,in the North Sea, I used to fly in Bell 212 between the oil platform and the semi-submersible accommodation rig. Hated every minute. The smaller Bolkow was worse; no co-pilot so you could sit up front and the pilot ALWAYS dropped off the edge of the heideck to gain speed. As the sea approached he would ALWAYS look over with a big grin. Some of these pilots were ex US Army ex vietnam. The helipcopter from the mainland (Sumburgh) to the platform were at that time Sikorsky S61. Noisy but with some space. Replaced by Tigers.which were faster but very cramped. Not happy days!.
