A message from America - Manchester to be precise.

Just a note to tell you the I am still alive out here in the heathen wilderness of the United States; a country that seems intent on being ignorant of the rest of the world!

Anyway, saw the other day that you guys might be getting together for a nosh. Some day I will make it...how many of you are retired now?

On the bike side, is everyone still riding? Over here I have, by accident, become a BMW collector. My fleet has grown a bit; I now have in the USA, from newest to oldest:

1) a BMW S1000RR model year 2011

2) a BMW R1200S model year 2007 and most recently acquired.....

3) a BMW R100RS model year 1981..complete with Krauser bags.

and back in France I still have my 1975 BMW R90S...which I dumped last summer as I came into a small country road corner way to fast and ended up planting the left cylinder head on the pavement and lifting the rear wheel. The bike is OK and my brother-in-law straightened the dent in the tank, however, now I am looking to find someone to re-paint its original smoke color. Looks like there is a specialist that can do this for me in Holland; getting good paint work done in France...at least the Southwest of France....., is a "challenge" as they say.

By the way, we still "live" in our village of Vaour; kept the house all these years. It turns out that there are 3 other full time residents of Vaour, and the adjoining village of Penne, who are Manchester graduates... Amazing! If you could get any interest among any of the guys for a ride down to Vaour this coming summer or even September / October (weather still good) everyone could stay at my place a few days and we could hold a Manchester get together. Could be a lot of fun and it is great countryside for riding.

Well,

Just say hello when you have a moment. I feel very cut-off out here in the wilderness!

Cheers,

Mark

When (if) I retire in Summer 2017, perhaps a few will join me that autumn for a ride down through France to visit Mark.
I will need a at least one fellow rider to carry my luggage. Cannot possibly spoil the lines of my BMW with ugly stuffabags etc!!
