I don't know if anyone keeps their "oops" momentoes or not? All but one of mine went awol during the move from Belvedere to Slade Green, along with 3 1/9th scale Protar m/c models (Manx Norton, AJS7R and Vespa scooter - it was going cheap). The sole survivor of the momentoes was the Venom Clubman's crankpin, on the left. It has a ridge on it that gave the bike a noise similar to a dumper truck! The two valves are exhaust valves from the Morini's front pot. It turned out that the machining done to convert it into a "big valve" model was faulty. If you look closely, the first has a v-shape missing from the edge and the other has a flat on which it is sitting
On the right is a part from the MZ's kickstarter. When the kickstarter broke on Xmas Eve some years ago I remarked to George who sorts my current engineering needs that the part seemed a bit distorted rather than just belled slightly as normal. He took me at my word and flattened the middle as can be seen. Unfortunately, the centre does need a slight bow to push the kickstarter gear into mesh! When I applied to Martin at Burwin M/Cs for a new one he was able to supply a 2nd hand one cheap. He has a crate of them from MZs he has scrapped over the years and since they are normally indestructible he has only ever sold one other. It was so long ago that he couldn't remember why it was needed!

I believe that Eldon used to keep failed components, spray them gold and mount them on a wall. As he was running a DOT at the time, he must have had a big wall!!
