One bike was a Kawasaki KR1 250 (remember those?). The performance of Chris's Kwacker is similar to my BMW, at times I was flat out keeping up, but he wasn't hanging about. We all had full tanks when we started and after 70 odd miles we topped up.
I spent £7.20
Chris spent over £15.00!!!
It averages over 70mpg.
Bikes have come a long way in 20 years.

Ahh - the smell of Castrol 2T. Well worth the extra £7.50, I'd say.
I recall the KH250 triple, with a petrol consumption of 25mpg, if you were lucky. Most of the ones I saw were being pushed to the nearest garage because they were fitted with a miniscule petrol tank and easily ran out of petrol.
Both my bikes do only about 50mpg, sob.
When MZ brought out the ETZ series they had altered the porting which ruined the previously good fuel consumption of the earlier 250s, without much if any increase in speed.
