Guzzi Florida

Mirabile dictu, the Police have recovered the Guzzi.  It was found by the side of a canal just outside Wognum, about 6-7 miles away.  So much for Poland!
I will go to inspect it for damage on Monday or Tuesday.  Meanwhile, I intend to invest in a very good lock and am seriously thinking of having a strapped padlock system fitted to the shed to stymie light-fingered cloggies.

At least it was at the side of the canal and not in it. Good luck.

That is one question I did ask the policeman who delivered the news. Meanwhile, the cloggies who stole the bike have kept the ignition key so I had to ask the dealer who sold me the bike back in England about another key (or switch). He said there should be a code visible on the switch; with that he can cut another for me! Guzzi security 20 or so years ago was that bad!
It's almost as bad as MZ with their BMW knock off ignition "keys".

if they have a key, then they can take it at will. Can you change the lock?
Then again, having abandoned it once, they may not be interested in taking it again.

To get it again, they will have to get through the new security I will be installing, now I know just how unsafe the current system is. The key is not that much of a problem as I see it. It wouldn't surprise me if the ignition could be tripped with an electrical screwdriver.
I almost had a 150 MZ stolen at the Crystal Palace Sports Centre a long time ago. The ignition had been turned on (easily) but the fuel had been turned off. The thief must have thought the fuel tap worked the same way as on a Honda! When the engine failed to start he gave up.
