Disaster.  This morning at about 2.30am the Guzzi was stolen from the shed.  Neither Chris nor I heard anything.  Chris heard it's distinctive startup note about 2 streets away and we immediately checked.  At least they left the MZ.
The police are not hopeful that it will be recovered, though why anyone would want a Guzzi Florida that badly is a mystery.
Since the bike was quite elderly I could only get 3rd party cover, not even TPFT so that is that!

Oh no. That is rotten. How did they manage to start it?
Are you looking to replace it?

I did foolishly leave the ignition key in, thinking the bike's location was reasonably secure. I know, I shouldn't have! However, I'm sure they could have hotwired it at need, even assuming they didn't come with a van left round the corner.
Currently, I haven't got sufficient funds to buy another bike due partly to the shenanigans of the Belastingdienst. The last few thousand euros from my pension had to be paid to them after a cockup with the byzantine complexities of the Dutch tax system and the monthly pension payment is all that's keeping our heads above water. There is a possibility that I could afford another bike in late 2015, hips permitting, but until then the MZ will have to serve.

Hope it turns up. One of our neighbours had their car stolen a few years ago and, as in your case, the theives were considerate enough to push it down the road before getting it started.

Two things about the nightmare have been bugging me.
One: How did they know there was a v-twin, if only a Florida, in the shed at the back of the house out of sight and 2: How did they know, in a few days since it had happened, that the lock on the shed no longer worked due to the shed subsiding somewhat, leaving the entry wide open?
I only hope the neighbours on the other side of the canal were not involved in passing information?
It would be nice to get it back but the policeman, when questioned, opined that it is probably in Poland by now!

Does the fact it was a V twin have any bearing? Give it a couple of weeks and start searching Ebay.(http://www.ebay.pl/) Did it have any distinguishing features, such as a tear in the seat,or a scratch on the tank, to identify it?

Thank you for the link which I have book marked but I fear the bike may be reduced to spares as it may be more valuable that way to the things who stole it. I think the policeman was not being too serious about it being specifically Poland. After all the whole of Eastern Europe is awash with stolen bikes and cars, from what we hear. I will keep an eye on that site though. The colour is very distinctive as is the seat. Do V65s have a steering damper as standard?
