Cycling in Holland

Having mooned over the photos of mountain biking, here are a collection of photos snapped on a quick run today.

As can be seen, the countryside is rather flat.  A local joke runs that if one stands on a bucket, half of the province of North Holland is visible.
The two wind turbines in the first photo are visible from our shower room so it is easy to tell the direction and strength of the wind.  The minor roads are rather good for push-cycling, being (usually) quiet and of reasonable quality.  Last year I managed a 30km round trip, mainly on minor roads or cycle paths.  This year, with luck and favourable weather, I hope to better that.

Chance would be a fine thing. The biggest "hill" around here is where the minor road crosses the raised railway line. It's all of 30 or 40 feet high!
