Help!

Hi all, I have a problem with the MZ after the incident I reported last year. When I switch on the main lights (only) the fuze blows? I've checked the handlebar switch and left it dangling in case the short was between the handlebars and a contact in the switch. It was suggested that a new main bulb might work but no luck. When I had the headlamp off I checked for obvious shorts in the shell but again, no success.
Can anyone suggest anything else, please?

I the fault isn't obvious, then I would grab the multimeter and check:-
1-the switch operation.
2-each wire in turn, to make sure the insulation hasn't broken.

If that all fails, then I would solder a nail betwen the fuse contacts, switch on the lights and stand back.
The resultant fire would be a blessing and rid you of a constant source of anguish. - sorted!!

Thank you for the suggestions, Roger.
When the weather warms up I shall try them out. I seem to recall that unauthorised bonfires are illegal here. I suppose I could always push it into a canal, though. Once walking through Amsterdam, I saw the dredger fishing scores of pushbbikes from the canals there.
