Since last July, I have been cycling to work. A round trip of 10 miles.
I bought a brand new Specialized racing bike. (Or rather my work bought me a new bike on the Government 'Ride to Work' scheme)
I have used it all through the winter with only weekly chain lubrication and it has only been cleaned twice.
Today I gave it a thorough clean.
It has come up like new, with no corrosion. The paint on the frame and cycle parts is really substantial, and the ally parts are unmarked. The fasteners are also unmarked.
How many motorcycles would survive regular winter use unmarked?

Not used my pushbike, a Ridgeback hybrid, for a couple of months now for fear of corrosion. Perhaps they don't put much salt on the roads up there. In Cheshire, home of the salt mines, they put plenty. The only bike I have ever owned which would come up like new after winter was my old MZ ETS250 - the model with the 4 gall tank. This was one of Wilf Green's original imports with everything made of decent materials or enclosed: e.g.carb, chain, brake cable into hub, gaitered forks etc. The later MZs weren't detailed/finished half as well. But of course the MZ was rubbish to ride............. you can't have everything.
