The Good Old Days

I have just got a new computer, and before re-formatting the old one and giving it to Lydia, I copied a load of old files across.
It's like clearing out the attic.
I found remnants of the old web site and thought this bit was worth republishing.
It's thanks to Terry we have this, as the photos are all his.
Any more old photo's?
Send them to me and I'll share them.

It also seems that Facebook is the latest thing.
I have started a group called 'Bike71'

Nice to be reminded of Edale, pints of coffee at that cafe, and freezing one night in that pup tent.
I went back to Manchester on Saturday night over the pass which by then was so deep in snow that the police on the other side were closing it. I can still remember the surprise, if not shock, of the policeman, who, hearing two motorcycles behind him, realised we had made it over a pass they considered impassable.
But to news. I cannot help but notice the mention of snow on the BBC news. Over here, we got about half an inch which has since melted, being the temperature outside is currently +8 degrees C.
However, I am currently motorcycleless. On Christmas Eve, we needed to go to the next village which has a sub post office through some nasty, very cold fog. Chris was going to go by pushbike but I said I would take her. I tried to start the MZ but suddenly there was a loud cracking noise and the kickstarter flopped to half mast! Chris went by pushbike after all.
The kicker is that since MZ must be about the only manufacturer since Velocette originated the kickstarter not to use splines on the kickstarter shaft the whole drive side cover has to be removed. Doing this shortly after Christmas during a not-quite-so-cold spell I discovered that the footrests prevented the cover from coming away cleanly. I battled with the footrest support bolts in the fading light before giving up but still managed to strain my back quite badly.
I am now waiting for less inclement weather to complete the repair.
